Dear Lord,

As this new week begins we observe Veteran’s Day. So, my thoughts and prayers turn to those brave men and women who defend our freedom. You remind us in Exodus that you are our strength, our power, and our warrior.

The Lord is my strength and my power;

    he has become my salvation.

This is my God, whom I will praise,

    the God of my ancestors, whom I will acclaim.

3 The Lord is a warrior;

    the Lord is his name. Exodus 15:2-4

Your Son, Jesus Christ paid a heavy price our freedom from sin, our selfish desires, and Satan. Today, we remember the one percent of the population that defend our right to exercise our freedom. The cost of freedom is a great sacrifice. Thank you for the brave ones who have fought, and continue to fight, so courageously for our nation. Lord protect them with Your arms of grace and blessing them and their families. Encircle them with your peace and help them service with honor. While we know we live in a dangerous world, filled with those who would seek to do us and our soldiers harm Lord when the voice of hate rises up against them, we ask that you would silence it. Thwart the plans of the enemy who cause them to stumble, lift them up in Your mighty arms.

Give our leaders godly discernment. Make them constantly aware of what lurks close by. Help them be men and women of prayer, realizing that this is where their greatest help comes from. Help them stay united and strong, and resolute, determined and unwavering. Always forward in the power of your might and strength. In Jesus, precious name. Amen.
